Ottawa, ON – Rockland stopped a late rally by Ottawa to maintain a 5-4 victory Thursday night. Rockland began the scoring by putting up three runs in the third inning – LF Stephen Cardullo hit a two-RBI single and CF Jared McDonald scored an unearned run. Ottawa then cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third when CF Sebastien Boucher hit a two-RBI double. Rockland answered with an RBI-single in the fifth inning from 2B Steve Nyisztor to make it 4-2 Boulders.
Ottawa climbed back and tied it at 4-4 in the fifth inning – C Bryce Massanari had an RBI-single and LF Mike Schwartz had an RBI-walk. But in the seventh, Rockland took a 5-4 lead with an RBI-single from Cardullo. The Champions were looking to rally with runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth, but could not convert.
