Ottawa, ON – A dominant start from Sussex County pitcher Shawn Sanford helped the Miners defeat the Ottawa Champions 7-1. Sanford pitched the complete game, allowing just one run in the process. Sussex County didn’t score a lot in any given inning but rather applied pressure throughout the game with its runs spread across the game. In the sixth, CF Ryan Mathews hit a solo homer, which was one of his two RBIs. RF Jon Dziomba led the Miners with three hits, and he also had two runs. 1B Brett Zaziski added two hits, one run and one RBI.
The single run for Ottawa occurred after a SS Daniel Bick single coupled with an error. DH Alex Nunez scored that run.
