OTTAWA, ON – The Rockland Boulders rode a solid start from RHP Brian Ernst en route to a series split. The gem from the right-hander gave them a shutout victory, defeating the Ottawa Champions 6-0 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at RCGT Park.
Ernst left the Champions looking for answers in the first half of the game, and it continued when Rockland manager Jamie Keefe went to the bullpen. The Champions only mustered four hits and five base runners off the Boulders pitching staff.
“I have to tip my cap to their pitcher,” said Champions manager Hal Lanier about Ernst’s performance. “We had one man on second base, and I guess that was about it. And we only got four hits.”
