CAN-AM: Luck Of The Irish Not With The Champions, Fall 7-4 To Boulders

OTTAWA, ON – A 12-hit attack pushed the Boulders past the Champions 7-4 at RCGT Park. Rockland opened the scoring in the top of the second when LF Devin Harris connected on a two-RBI double, and added two more in the third. 1B Jared Schlehuber hit a sacrifice fly to put Rockland up 3-0, and 3B Mike Fransoso singled home another run. The lead was extended to 6-1 in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from DH Marcus Nidiffer and another RBI single by Fransoso. SS Junior Arrojo’s RBI single in the sixth capped the scoring for Rockland. 2B Pat McKenna was 3-for-4 with a walk to lead Rockland.

On the mound, LHP Jason Byers allowed two runs on three hits over six innings, picking up the win. The save went to RHPEdgar Valle, who struck out two in three innings to finish the job.

1B Alexander Malleta was 2-for-3 with a home run for Ottawa.
