Ottawa, ON – Stefano Momesso gave the Smiths Falls Bears a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Ottawa Senators when he scored 4:53 into the extra period.
With the win, Smiths Falls evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.
Momesso had two goals to lead the Bears to victory.
Smiths Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bears kept Ottawa’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 33 saves on 36 shots.
Smiths Falls additionally got points from Victor Beaulac, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Karson McCartney, who had two and Ryan Duhaime, Chris King, and Taylor Henry, who contributed one each.
The Senators were helped by Mike Martin, who had one goal and one assist. Martin scored 6:45 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Ryan Collins assisted on the tally. Ottawa also got points from Collins, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Michael Evelyn, who had two.
